I just have a couple of questions about the assignment that is due on Monday: 1) Do we have to get the pictures from magazines or can we find them off the internet? 2) Do they have to be about the oppression of children, or just any oppression? Thank you
I also had a question about monday's assignment - can we cut out phrases or slogans from magazines as well as pictures? I don't mean to paste a whole paragraph onto our collage, but just a word or two here and there. Thanks!
Has the assignment been posted to the course website yet? Or am i just not seeing it? I can't answer until I have a chance to see how it's actually worded.
amanda: 1) The pictures can come from anywhere. 2) The objective is to illustrate "oppression in your everyday life" and then write a description of your own oppression(s), so the answer is neither.
natalie: That's totally fine. Whatever helps you capture "oppression in your everyday life".
I think this assignment is certainly very interesting for sure. You really can't go wrong with it because you can be creative and that's a great thing to use throughout this course.
Another question but this time it's about the "Who Owns York University" assignment. I don't know if it was said in class and I just didn't hear it, but when is it due?
I just wanted to say I really like discussing oppression and how it affects us. I feel as though understanding how oppression works and what is involved has made me realize how oppressed our society is. I am now looking at things in a different light and I'm finding it very interesting. Regarding pedagogy of the oppressed I find it difficult to understand but it's not impossible. I think I'm getting the just of it. I find if i read it twice it helps to clear some things up. Overall I am really enjoying reading it. I just wish we had covered this a little earlier in the course. It's quite engaging.
a bit confused about the "oppression in your everyday life". meh. i'm a bit disappointed that we don't have our tutorial discussions now that we're reading paulo friere. it would make for some great conversation + learning, way better than the children's novels (methinks) for discussion purposes.

Neil, you're right, the assignment hasn't been posted yet. Should I contact Jeffrey and let him know about this?
It was posted: it's the last slide of Prof Gennaro's lecture powerpoint.
jessica: Thanks.

Thanks Jessica, I was looking for it myself too!
